Oromia Regional SCFIN Project Launching Workshop

RiPPLE in collaboration with UNICEF organized a “Regional Launching workshop on Scaling up Complementary Food to Improve Nutritional Status of 6-23 months Children (SCFIN)” project.

The one day long workshop is aimed at launching a project on community based production of complementary food, sharing lessons on community based local production of complementary food piloted in the four regions as well as defining the roles and responsibilities of stakeholders that will be involved in the implementation of the project and develop joint action plan.  

A number of studies and reports were presented during the occasion on issues such as the nutrition situation of Ethiopian with particular emphasis on Oromia region; background on community based production of complementary food; experience from Haramaya University; lessons community based local production of complementary food piloted in four regions; CBN program implementation strategy and operational plan and monitoring and evaluation of the project. 

Close to 50 participants representing higher education institutions like the Addis Ababa and Haramaya University; Bureuas of Health; Education and Agriculture from the Oromia regional state; experts and officials of health, education, agriculture offices and administration from the five implementing Woredas; UNICEF and RiPPLE.
